Josephat Sesi, an elementary student at Pathfinder Academy in Eldoret, Kenya, stood out as an exceptionally dedicated and bright student even though he had no parents or guardians to encourage him or pay his school fees. School director, Joshua Machinga, felt this student had particular promise.
Machinga asked if Amistad might be able to sponsor this hard-working student at St Anthony’s Boys School, a top Kenyan college prep school. Based on merit, Amistad supported Josephat through St Anthony’s high school. Upon graduation he was accepted as a student in the Education Department at Kenya’s prestigious Eldoret University. Josephat graduated from Eldoret University in 2015 with a degree in Education with emphasis on science and math. Josephat Sesi is now a high school math and science teacher.
