Amistad’s work in Haiti has been multi-faceted since the 2010 earthquake. Primarily we have helped to provide food for several orphanages, and been supportive of medical work in Port Au Prince.

Drs. Scott Nelson and Terry Dietrich’s Orthopedic Surgery Program

Amistad partners with Drs Nelson and Dietrich and their volunteer medical teams who travel regularly to Port Au Prince to provide highly-intricate modern orthopedic surgical procedures for impoverished patients at Adventist Hospital of Haiti.

Haiti Adventist Hospital Orthotics and Prosthetics Clinic, Critical Care and Nursing Education Programs

Partnering with Loma Linda University (LLU)School of Orthotics and Prosthetics and Amistad International, and Tim and Annika Cleveland, Haiti Adventist Hospital (HAH) Orthopedic Clinic now offers Orthotic and Prosthetic services. Services include prosthetic limbs, scoliosis bracing, shoe lifts and more. In Haiti, restoration of mobility can mean return to participation in daily life, earning a livelihood or going to school. Tim Cleveland, director of the program, is an American Board Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO) graduate of LLU.

Annika Cleveland, MSN graduate of LLU, experienced in critical care and nursing education is now providing clinical nursing education and critical care service training at HAH.
